• VIA DELLE GENTI:  Via delle Genti from Verbania Intra to the Swiss border was the ancient road that connected the towns of Verbano and Switzerland. The road then entered Switzerland, skirting the villages of Lake Maggiore up to Locarno and then to the Magadino plain where it connected to the road that led to the San Gotthard Pass. The route from Verbania to the state border is divided into two pleasant stages, which can be traveled all year round, except in the event of imminent snowfalls. It is a route that winds along the hillside, always with a splendid view of Lake Maggiore, and which allows you to cross small villages and the nature reserve of Sacro Monte di Ghiffa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and finally the beautiful lakeside villages reachable from Cannero and Cannobio. The routes of both stages start from Cannero:

• CANNERO-VERBANIA: 17 km route, practicable in about 5 hours.

• CANNERO- SAN BARTOLOMEO (Swiss border): 13 km route, passable in about 4 hours.
